Finished booties

Fibre: Blue Faced Leicester
Spin: 2 ply, WPI 13
Weight: approximately 22 grams / 0.8 oz
Yardage: 60 meters/ 65 yards.
Needles: DPN size 3 mm, I used 2.5 mm but I knit loose.
Gauge: 23 stitches to 10 cm/4 inches

Cast on 10 stitches. You can use a provisional cast on as the stitches will be needed later. Knit 30 rows of garter stitch.

Pick up 15 stitches on the side edges and 10 at the remaining short edge. (If you used a provisional cast on at the heel you unravel it and pick up the stitches.)

Now you knit in the round. Look at the picture. Knit 1 round, purl 1 round, totall 12 rounds.

Toe and top of foot:
Now we work the toe. Knit one long side needle. On the short side needle you knit 9 stitches then you slip one stitch from the following long side needle and purl these two together (p2tog).

*Turn the bootie inside out and knit the short side needle again like this: slip one, knit 8 stitches, slip one stitch from long side needle and knit 2 together.

Turn again and slip 1, knit 8, p2tog with one stitch from the side needle.* Repeat *to* until you have 6 stitches remaining on the long side needles. Make sure you are on the right side and knit the side and heel needles.

Now we knit in the round again and the next round is knitted like this: k2tog and yo. This makes the holes to thread the ribbon trough. After this you purl 1 round, knit 1 round until desired height. My cuff is 16 rows high. After a knit round bind off loosely.

Weave in the ends and tread a ribbon through the holes. (I have used a satin ribbon on the ones I give away, it’s so pretty, on my own kids booties I quickly changed the ribbon to elastic bands because I hate the tying of the ribbon.)
