Hi from Downunder - 2007/05/19 03:10 Hi i am a spinner in SE Queensland. I have been spinning now for nearly 6 years,my other passions are crochet and loom knitting.I love spinning on my Marjacraft Suzie wheel. I have 5 other types of wheels living with me at present, a few drop spindles and a spindolyn supported quill spindle.I have taught people to spin when i was a member of the local spinners group and a local pioneer village. Along with crochet and other things i have done many demonstrations to and find it really interesting how different people react when they see spinning. Men are usually fascinated with the technicalities of the wheel.Kids love the feel of the wool and love to be given a lock of wool for show and tell at school. Some don't like how the raw wool smells. Some people are intrigued by the different things you can spin and how you process the fiber. I used to love doing the spinning demonstration when one of the men would use the old handshears and shear a sheep on the back of an old truck and i would literally spin straight from the sheep. Pure bliss.
