Kromski Wheels - 2007/09/09 08:48 I love the Kromski wheels. They are very beautiful and generally are great to spin on. I hope that before you spend hundreds of dollars on a wheel that you will try it out, though. A spinning wheel is a very personal thing and even though you might like the look of the wheel it is the feeling of the treadle, the yarn take up and the overall comfort of the equipment.
It's kind of like buying a car. You walk onto the lot and spy something that could be IT. You open the door and sit down. Adjust the seat, adjust the mirror, adjust the seat again...nope, doesn't feel right.
You CAN learn to spin on any wheel but you will learn more easily with a wheel that fits.

I have to travel several hours to get to my closest wheel dealer and even he does not have all the wheels. I have fallen in love with the majacraft wheels, i just hope I like one when I get to try them next week end.

Re:Kromski Wheels - 2007/09/09 18:59 I wouldn't worry about this too much. It is best to do what Beth suggests, but whatever you get, you will get used to. Sometimes what's available plays a bigger part in the choice.

It's like her car analogy, if the price is right and you can get it, then you'll get used to it not feeling just right after a while.

It may take you a few extra days to get used to the wheel, but I think a Majacraft or any other high quality wheel will work well for you.

It will help A LOT that you have done so much spindle spinning. You only have to learn the wheel part, and also how to keep up with the cussed thing lol.

Be prepared to be back at the lumpy bumpy stage for a bit, until your fingers find the right rythem. If you fall off, get back on and try again.
