ILA&KOTW - 2007/06/28 12:03
ILA&KOTW (Internet lingo acronyms & knitters of the world) Thanks for filling me in on internet lingo of acronyms. I got to thinking about it and we the knitters have been using acronyms since knitting directions were first put to paper - possibly on clay tablets and papyrus too. Directions are written out in detail, row by row and then there are those directions using charts and symbols for us to follow, but somehow the acronyms have become the hieroglyphics of a hurried generation. I cannot see this affecting the knitting world too much as we are anything but in a hurry while we enjoy knitting stitch by stitch, row by row stopping every now and then to smooth and touch the work in progress. Yet this hasn't stopped us from being fast knitters too. Other changes have taken place within the knitting world like the amounts of yarn we store like a squirrel saving his nuts for winter, and the quantity of needles on hand in every style and fashion. Knitters have become visible and there are so many of us all over the world and fortunately we have the internet to bring us closer to one another in a shared passion that we all love. Maybe I'll use an occasional acronym from TOT (time to time), but the only acronyms that I care about are those that have to do with my knitting. BW&KOK, (Be well & keep on knitting).
