Drop Spindle - 2007/05/17 03:51 Hi there! I'm 27 and have been spinning for just a few months on my home made drop spindle. I wandered over here from Yarn Harlot and noticed that the site got over 500 hits between this morning and now! This is a great resource, and I'll be mentioning it on Crafty Crafty where I blog. Thanks for putting it together!

Re:Drop Spindle - 2007/05/17 07:12 Yarn Harlot has really gotton the word out about us. Please do post about us anywhere that is relevant. I'm glad you like the site. If you fall off, get back on and try again.

Re:Drop Spindle - 2007/07/17 06:12 All I use is a drop spindle. Partly because it's much cheaper than a wheel--but mostly because I adore the portability that drop spindles offer. It's wonderful to be able to spin as I'm pacing around the house while chatting on the phone.
Craft stores have a fantastic amount of supplies for making different sizes of drop spindles.
I recently make a lace weight one using a 1/4" dowel, a cup hook, and one of those stone "doughnut" beads with the hole in the center. Works like a charm!

Re:Drop Spindle - 2007/07/17 08:44 KIC... You are a person after my own heart... I, too, am exclusively a spindler... I've been reading on another forum about all the problems that some have been having with their wheels, and it disabused me of the idea that I might want one... Who wants to spend all one's time figuring out why it's not working? A spindle doesn't have those issues...

Re:Drop Spindle - 2007/07/21 07:24 That is why I go back and forth about getting a wheel. I am not mechanically oriented at all! I love the simplicity of my spindles, as well as the portability. Donna
