Singles - 2007/06/27 18:03 I've been reading about using singles in weaving and knitting... What baffles me is how you get a stable single that doesn't try to twist up on you, or untwist to the point of falling apart...

Any guidance?

is a wonderful tutorial by a very talented lady, who explains how to spin a good singles for projects such as weaving or knitting.
If you fall off, get back on and try again.

Re:Singles - 2007/06/28 08:59 Yes, you can, especially if it isn't terrible heavy. If it is too heavy, you may need to spin them thicker. If you fall off, get back on and try again.

Re:Singles - 2007/06/28 13:32 I've read in a number of spinning books that the 'perfect' twist for a particular single is a twist for every crimp in the raw fiber.

Re:Singles - 2007/06/28 15:22 Just got back from my LY/QS (Local Yarn/Quilt Shop). They have Noro Transitions, which I noticed is a single. I examined a skein, and found that some of the single does indeed try to twist... But now I do know what I'm looking for in my own work...
