GrannieAnnie -Finished Project - 2007/06/27 01:47 When i saw your lovely scarf this morning, it reminded me on how was I going to photograph several of my long scarves and get them into the frame. Would you be able to post a closeup in order to see the detail of the finger-woven pattern and your handspun. Your color combination is very pleasing to the eye. I noticed that quite a few scarves today are being folded in half and the ends looped through the fold which greatly enhances the pattern/colorwork of the knit, and your scarf is long enough just for this.
How long did it take you to fingerweave the scarf as compared to knitting the scarf? Do you have other works that have been fingerwoven? Great idea!

It's hard to say how long it took, because I didn't work on it constantly. Since I teach quilting, sometimes I had to put it on the back burner in order to make a quilt top... But, I started it early in May, if that helps.

I did weave a couple of scarves for a friend in fairly short order last winter when we had an extended power outage due to ice. Since I had no electricity for my sewing machine, I could devote some concentrated time to the weaving. For me, I guess the time would be comparable to knitting. But I really like the texture of the weaving. You might say that it's caught my fancy. But then I'm one to want to know 'how they did that' before they had (whatever)... That's what drew me to a drop spindle.
