silk hankies - 2007/05/16 04:32 I think the tutorials will be a great idea, but in the meantime if you wish to spin the silk hankies, what I do is peel one off, very thin, then poke a hole in the center and just continue to stretch and stretch the donut shape until it thins out like a thin piece of roving and then it will break where it thins and voila roving...you can draft it a little more if needed, space you hands quite far apart for the drafting as the fibres are long....hope this helps, cedar

Re:silk hankies - 2007/05/18 20:55 Thank you very much! I bought it because of it's hand-dyed beauty, but once I got it home I had no idea of how to start. This is perfect - appreciate the help!

Re:silk hankies - 2007/05/20 03:09 FYI, I bought three pretty silk spinning bells today, which are very similar to hankies. I'll start on the tutorial right away. If you fall off, get back on and try again.

Re:silk hankies - 2007/05/29 11:00 How is the tutorial coming on? If you haven't made a start yet I'd be happy to take over - I have some hankies here and dying for an excuse to spin them www.kurrajonghandcrafts.com

Re:silk hankies - 2007/05/29 16:49 I'm working on it, but silk and I aren't exactly getting along yet. LOL If you want to write it have at it! You will get a link back to your site. And some fiber at the end of the month, when I can pay for shipping

My hands, used to working in the garden, and with hoes and such are calloused and the silk snags terribly, I need a pumice. It just sticks all over the place on my big ugly hands

Ah well, we can't all have lovely hands like you! ZYours are very pretty though, and I admire pretty hands a lot.
If you fall off, get back on and try again.
