You know, this could be a couple of things...
With the BFL vrs Merino issue, then it could be staple length, as spinninmamma suggested. However, for ME I find that putting my hands a little farther apart helps.
The thing about spinning is that, your hands have to learn what to do, then one day, it's just right, and you can't really explain it.
You might try some different drafting techniques. I "hope" to have a drafting article up this issue, but I haven't written it yet, and well I may not get to it in time lol.
Different fibers draft better with different draws. Merino is a good for a medium backward draw, where as BFL, Shetland and other longer wools might do better with a long draw.
experiment with different draws and drafting, try dividing your roving into slivers, move your hands closer, then farther apart. You should be able to find the answer.
If you fall off, get back on and try again. |
