men and fiber arts - 2007/07/12 14:38 Glad to finally see something in print that takes this into the men's perspective. Obviously i reluctently went with my wife to a midwest weaving conference in the early ninety's because she needed company. I ended up more excited that she was. everything about the fiber world turned me on. I had played with art for years in the male areas like leatherwork but nothing got me hooked like fiber. the colors, textures, process all leant to my inner needs to create. it touches my woodworking skills often creating new things to make our life easier like a truely portalbe lazy kate, benches, etc.
nothing bores me more that traditional male endeavors. sports to me is truly the opiate of the masses. i will look forward to following the interactions here anad hoope to see many like mined men come out of the fiber closet- because lets face it- the closet is overflowing with yarn, roving, dyes, silk fusion felting suppl.ies and other finely defined fiber to make your heart glad to have vision and touch.

Re:men and fiber arts - 2007/07/13 04:51 I think I love you A real fiber man.I have a couple of nice online men friends who also are real fiber men. One whittles the most beautiful hooks and would love to create with fiber but his forte' is whittling hooks and other items for fiber use. The other one is the most exquisite crocheter. He does work I can only dream of doing. The first has a wife who knits and appreciates his talents and the crocheter unfortunately has a wife who can't appreciate the lovely things her hubby makes.I just think there is something wonderful about a man who can appreciate fiber or things involved with it and doesn't take from his partners enjoyment if he doesn't.There should be more of you. Welcome I hope we get to see some of your work soon.
